On-Site Walk Testing

Mobile coverage, measured every metre.

Why Measure

When coverage is operationally critical, measure it.

Predictive modelling gives a fast, confident coverage picture across a portfolio, and for most planning, that's the right tool. But some sites carry consequences a model shouldn't have to hold alone.

When a building's connectivity directly carries customer payments, scanning and apps, when the footprint is large or complex, or when a capital decision rides on the result, there is no substitute for professional on-site measurement. A walk-test coverage analysis delivers exactly that: real, measured signal captured across the whole footprint, on every network your customers and devices actually use.

Operationally critical connectivity

Sites where mobile coverage drives operational technology - facilitates automation, robotics, carries payments, click-and-collect, barcode scanning, staff devices, or safety communications.

Large or complex footprints

Warehouse-format retail, distribution centres, industrial facilities and campuses, where building scale and construction defeat assumptions and only measurement resolves the detail.

High-stakes capital decisions

Where the spend on a remediation system is significant enough that a measured baseline pays for itself by right-sizing the design.

On-Site Capability

What a walk test captures.

Our field engineers deploy commercial-grade measurement equipment that records the true real-world experience of a device.

Every network, concurrently

4G and 5G NR measured simultaneously in both NSA and SA modes, plus Private 4G/5G. All three MNOs simultaneously. Up to 18+ radio carriers captured in a single walk.

Raw, unbinned measurement

Data captured straight from the modem at its output rate: 50 to 100 samples per second - with no binning or averaging. Sub-metre resolution record of how signal behaves in your building.

Layer 3 visibility

Complete Layer 3 message logging alongside RF metrics, so handover behaviour, attach failures, and idle/connected transitions are all on the record.

Active service testing

Scripted active tests - VoLTE, VoNR and data throughput - run concurrently with idle measurement, capturing real user experience, call success/failures, and speed tests.

Whole-footprint coverage

Retail floor and aisles, back-of-house, loading docks, mezzanines, underground car parks, ingress/egress, building perimeter. Complex industrial sites - haul roads, pits, hardstands.

Walk, drive, or drone

Indoor and outdoor with seamless transition. GPS-tracked drive testing for large outdoor sites. Mines, ports, logistics, campuses, and more.

What you receive

Connectivity analysis you can act on.

Every campaign produces a complete, evidence-based picture of how your site performs, measured coverage across the whole footprint, broken down by building, level, and by mobile operator, assessed against the thresholds your operations need.

  • Where coverage fails, and why: gaps located to the zone, with the contributing cause identified.
  • A measured baseline for system design: coverage thresholds, cell dominance and interference quantified per zone and per operator.
  • Ground truth against prediction: measured results reconciled with any predicted model of the same site.

Where the analysis points to coverage remediation through an IBC, DAS, or Private Network, it becomes the measured input to system design.

Axidra Cloud

Every result in one platform.

Walk test data are uploaded to Axidra Cloud and attached to each Site as a permanent record - PDF reports, plots, heat maps, and exports.

How we deliver

Built to service a national footprint.

Walk test analyses are delivered by Axidra's own IBC engineering team - mobilised to wherever your buildings are, and coordinated as a structured program when there's more than one.

National field capability

Trained IBC engineers deploy to any site by road or air whether metro, regional or remote, delivered to one consistent national standard.

Coordinated multi-site programs

A single point of contact schedules and runs testing across many sites - managed as one program, reported in one place.

Minimal operational disruption

Testing is scheduled around trading hours and is non-intrusive, ensuring no downtime and no impact on customers or staff.

Comparable, repeatable results

Every site tested with the same methodology and equipment so results stand up to comparison across the portfolio and over time.
